Now offering Mindfulness Based Psychedelic Therapy, specializing in Cannabis Assisted Psychedelic Therapy.
Do you ever feel confined within the current cultural and therapeutic paradigm, wishing there was support big enough to hold the vastness of your inner experience and what is wanting to emerge? Humans have interacted with psychedelic plant medicines across millennia to expand consciousness, seek existential meaning, explore creative problem solving, heal from trauma, grieve losses and initiate into elders. Merging cutting edge neuroscience with ancient healing practices, Mindfulness Based Psychedelic Therapy allows us to return to our own intimate connection with ourselves and our place in the cosmos within a legal therapeutic container.
With the current state of the world, we need large-scale collective trauma healing, initiation, and self-actualization if we are to evolve, adapt and survive in symbiosis with our environment at this critical time in history.
Are you interested in psychedelic therapy but concerned with synthetic medicines or legality? There is phenomenal potential for health and healing being demonstrated by the current research surrounding the emerging field of Psychedelic Therapy, with medicines such as MDMA and Psilocybin looking on track for FDA approval within the next few years, and Ketamine currently starting to be used off label to treat clinical issues such as suicidality, PTSD, end of life anxiety, and treatment resistant depression.
There is currently a legal, highly accessible and often overlooked classic psychedelic plant medicine, Cannabis Sativa, which, with close attention to setting, mind-set of the client, and clinician skill set, reliably produces similar experiences with comparable therapeutic implications as the more well known psychedelic medicines. As a shapeshifting plant spirit ally, Cannabis responds greatly to the nuances of how the plant is approached. By creating an experience infused with intention, reverence, ritual, curated music, and then turning inwards with mindful attention, we can invite the psychedelic, or “soul manifesting” qualities to emerge to support our holistic unfolding.
Cannabis Assisted Psychedelic Therapy (CAPT)
Developed by Daniel and Alison McQueen of the Center for Medicinal Mindfulness, CAPT is rooted in Trauma Informed, Transpersonal, Somatic, Mindfulness based therapies, and current best practice Psychedelic Therapy methods with Cannabis as the psychedelic medicine. This gentle yet potent plant brings the promise of sustainability and abundance on all levels and empowers clients in accessing their own inherent movement towards health and wholeness.
As a Somatic Psychedelic, (somatic meaning “of the lived body”), Cannabis provides a unique contribution to the family of psychedelic medicines. Cannabis activates both the Sympathetic and the Parasympathetic nervous system simultaneously, allowing the trauma stored in the cells and connective tissues of the body to be re-experienced while in a relaxed state, thus creating the conditions for resolution, discharge and healing. Furthermore, unlike other psychedelics, Cannabis allows the journeyer to maintain agency throughout the process, truly choosing how deep to go, at what pace, or when to titrate out of the experience by simply opening the eyes.
Experiential Professional Training and Resilience Practices for Healing Professionals
With burnout plaguing the field of mental health professionals, I offer experiential training and consultation in Cannabis Assisted Psychedelic Therapy for clinicians and other healing professionals interested in the emerging field of psychedelic therapy for personal and professional growth and resilience. I also consult with clinicians wanting to learn how to support their clients in developing a conscious relationship with Cannabis.
With the current legality and accessibility of Cannabis Sativa it is common for people to choose to partake of this plant recreationally and medically. However, the mental health professional standards are far outdated, based largely on abstinence models due to old paradigm stigmas of Cannabis tainted by prohibition and the continued Federal misclassification of Cannabis as an illegal drug “with no known therapeutic benefits” despite countless new and ongoing research demonstrating a wide range of therapeutic benefits of consuming Cannabis from pain relief to mental health benefits.
Let's start waking up from the constriction of prohibition and learn how to turn towards this humble plant medicine with intention to support our own wellbeing and resilience. It is time to gather all of our allies for personal and collective healing so we can each bring our own unique medicine into the world and contribute ALL of our resourcefulness, innovation and creative resilience to turn the shifting paradigm towards creating a collaborative and sustainable future for our children’s children.
